The browser closing unexpectedly and the default home page failing to load are just two of the problems you may encounter while using Internet Explorer on your Windows XP Home system. The browser, pre-installed on Windows-based systems, contains a configuration file that can become corrupt with missing or incorrect entries. You can fix Internet Explorer and you don’t have uninstall the program or switch browsers. Once repaired, Internet Explorer is restored to a working state. Close any open programs and files. Click “Start,” “All Programs” and “Internet Explorer.” Click on “Tools” and “Internet Options.” Click on the “Advanced” tab. Click “Reset.” The Reset Internet Explorer settings dialog box will open. Click on “Reset” to start the repair utility. Click “Close” and “OK” when prompted. Close Internet Explorer by clicking on the “X” in the upper-right corner of the screen.
