It’s a well-known fact that fluorescent lighting is cost effective and cheaper to operate than incandescent bulbs. Unfortunately, fluorescent lighting is prone to hum or buzz when it is about to go bad. Step 1 Turn off the power at the light switch before removing the fluorescent bulb from its fixture. For safety’s sake, it’s best to also shut down power at the circuit box for the fixture as well.
