We’ve all experienced it. The lights flicker for no apparent reason, sending the kids into tales of mysterious ghosts lurking in the corners of the house. Chances are there is a very logical explanation for lights that flicker on occasion. So before you call in the ghost hunters or fork out the money for an electrician, there are a few simple things you can check on your own to determine the cause of flickering lights. Step 1 Check the lightbulbs to be sure they are not loose in the socket. A loose lightbulb will light intermittently, causing lights to flicker off and on at times. Tighten the bulb to see if that takes care of the problem. Check that you are using the proper size bulb for the socket. Some lamps require specific bulbs.
