Wood trim is a beautiful accent in any home. Wood trim can be used around windows, doors, as base trim, chair rails or crown molding. Chips and cracks can occur in wood trim from nails, changes in temperature and humidity and accidents. There is a pretty easy and fast way of repairing the chips and cracks in wood trim. Step 1 Use caulk, specifically you will need an acrylic latex siliconized caulk. Do not use plain silicone caulk because it is not paintable. Do not use plain latex caulk because it is not flexible enough. Acrylic latex siliconized caulk is available at hardware stores and home improvement stores. Step 2 Use a thin nail to poke a hole in the end of the caulking tube. Do not cut the end off because too much caulk will come out of the tube.
