Step 1 Using scissors or a sharp knife, cut the spout of the Quikrete tube to make a 6- to 9-millimeter hole. Step 2 Place your Quikrete cartridge in a standard caulking gun. Push the cartridge tip over the surface of the steps and force the Quikrete deep into any cracks or areas needing repair, making sure to apply it at a thickness no greater than nine millimeters at a time.
