How Do You Fix Bamboo Cutting Board Warping?
Any bamboo or wood cutting board will warp or “cup” if one side dries out more than the other. The side that is drier will shrink and become concave or hollow. The side that contains moisture will swell and become convex or rounded. To straighten the warp, you need to dry the rounded side and/or add moisture to the cupped side. Clean the cutting board. Moisten the “cupped” (hollow side) with water. Place the board, cupped side down, on a non-porous surface. The upper surface will dry out more than the lower surface, tending to straighten the board. Oil the cutting board with mineral oil to minimize the amount of moisture it can absorb from, or lose to, the surrounding air. Store the cutting board with the cupped side down. Turn it over occasionally if it tends to warp the other way. Place a wet washcloth on the cupped side of the cutting board. Place the board, washcloth side down, on a non-porous surface, outside in the sun. Watch carefully, and remove it from the sun before it warps
