How Do You Fix An Odor In A Crawl Space?
Crawl space odors can be a problem for renters or homeowners. The odors are produced by bacterial overgrowth of microorganisms that thrive in dark, cool and damp locations. Mold and mildew specifically enjoy this type of an environment. The microorganisms give off gasses which find their way into the breathable air in such an enclosed area, and artificial sunlight is necessary to destroy them, thus eliminating the source of the odor. Step 1 Run a necessary length of outdoor-rated extension cord from the nearest electrical outlet to the center of your crawl space, but do NOT plug it in. Prop the crawl space end of the cord’s connector up on anything necessary to prevent it from coming into contact with moisture. Step 2 Hang a 15-watt UV-C omni-directional lamp from the ceiling of the crawl space so it isn’t blocked by any items being stored in the crawl space. The light of this lamp must shine in all directions unobstructed. Plug the extension cord into the UV-C lamp and make sure the s
