How Do You Fix A Windows XP Bootloader?
The Windows XP bootloader is an important file, as it tells the computer how to load the XP operating system. Unfortunately, changes to your computer, or some virus files can corrupt, and otherwise damage or delete the bootloader; this leaves your computer either unable to boot up at all, or at the very least, with problems loading some parts of Windows XP. The XP bootloader can be fixed in a matter of minutes, however, with nothing more than your original Windows XP installation CD or an XP recovery disc. Step 1 Insert your Windows XP installation CD or recovery disc, and restart the computer. Instead of attempting to boot Windows as it normally would, the computer will give you an option to boot from the CD. Press a key when prompted, then wait for the setup program to load. Step 2 Press the “R” key on the “Welcome to Setup” screen. This will cause the CD to launch the Recovery Console instead of attempting to install Windows XP on your computer.
