Turn the vacuum cleaner off and turn it upside down. Look into the bottom of the hose and look for an obstruction. Pull out the clog or use a coat hanger to pull out clogs further inside the hose. Step 2 Use a broom handle to loosen clogs too high for fingers or coat hangers. Knock the clog loose and then turn the vacuum over to let it fall out. Step 3 Remove the hose from the rest of the vacuum if it is extremely clogged and needs further action to remove the debris. Rinse the hose to remove stubborn debris or shake it vigorously.
