How Do You Fix A Tear In A Convertible Top?
If you have a soft-top convertible, you know that the fabric is made to be tough and sturdy, but like any fabric, it can get the occasional rip. If you have a tear in your convertible top, you have several options–get it mended for a price, buy a whole new top or fix the tear yourself at home through any number of inexpensive and simple methods. Step 1 Duct tape it. It might look tacky, but it’s a quick fix to get you through until you have the time or money or materials to repair it properly. It’s better to get something on the rip right away to keep debris from getting in and to keep the wind from causing further tearing. Step 2 Sew it up. Carefully pull the sides of the rip together and use a needle and thread to sew it together. Be careful. Pulling too much on the thread may cause the top fabric to rip more. Step 3 Put a patch on it. Use a strong water-resistant glue. Put a line on each side of the rip and on the top and bottom of the rip on the inside of the convertible top. Appl
