Remove soap scum residue, which may have built up in the machine, by running 1 cup of vinegar through the wash cycle Mix a solution of 1 quart bleach and 2 quarts water to kill mildew. Use a cleaning rag to gently clean behind and around any rubber gasket or parts. Pour the remaining solution into the washer and run the solution through a second wash cycle. Run 1 cup of baking soda through the third and final wash cycle to rid the washer of any sour residue.
