A sliding patio door can be a wonderful window to the outside world. One that is difficult to open and close, though, can be a pain in the back. The cost of replacing a sliding glass door may become cost prohibitive due to labor and the cost of the door unit itself. By following a basic procedure, you can fix the slider patio door to roll like new again and save some money as well. Step 1 Clean the lower track area thoroughly with the vacuum cleaner. Remove any dust and large debris from inside the crevices of the tracks. You may have to force open the slider door in order to completely clean the metal track. Step 2 Spray the metal track liberally with the silicone lubricant. Attempt to spray into the area where the roller wheels are located under the slider door. Step 3 Wipe up any excess liquid from the spray silicone with the clean rag. Attempt to move the slider door over the metal track. It should be easier to slide with the lubricant applied.
