How Do You Fix A Screen Door?
Screen doors allow fresh air into your home and keep insects out. Eventually, you’ll need to perform basic maintenance on your screen to repair tears or rips. Set aside an afternoon to make your door as good as new. Step 1 Remove the screen door from the door frame and lay it on a flat work surface. If the handle keeps you from getting to the screen, remove it as well. Step 2 Pry the old spline from the track that runs around the perimeter of the screen. Step 3 Remove and discard the worn or torn screening mesh. Step 4 Lay a new screen over the opening and cut away the excess. Leave several inches on every side to ensure you have enough screening material to cover the door. Step 5 Push the spline back into the track, making sure to trap the screen beneath it. Pull the screen taunt while you’re securing the spline into place. Step 6 Trim away the excess screen once the spline is fully repositioned. Return the handle to the door and rehang your newly repaired screen door.
