How Do You Fix A Nitro RC Pull Starter?
Many of the engines that are included with RC vehicles feature simple pull-start systems that are used to crank the engine over. Pull starters are practical and generally reliable, but they have been known to fail. By far the two biggest issues are breaking the pull-start cord and a one-way bearing with an oil buildup that causes it to slip on the crank shaft. Fix a One-way Bearing That Slips Step 1 Remove the engine from the vehicle. This entails loosening the engine mounting screws under the chassis, disconnecting the throttle linkage and removing the muffler or tuned pipe from its mount. Step 2 Remove the pull-starter from the back of the engine. The pull start mechanism is usually secured to the engine with 3 2mm hex head screws or Philips head machine screws. Carefully pull the pull-start mechanism away from the crank shaft. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry it away and to insure that pull-start mechanism doesn’t come apart as you remove it.
