A leaky refrigerator can be a serious hazard in your kitchen. When standing water and hard kitchen flooring mix, dangerous slips can be the result. If you find your fridge is leaving a trail of water, you don’t need to call a plumber. Rather, if you inspect some common areas, chances are you will find the problem on your own and probably be able to remedy it. Inspect the refrigerator and see if you can clearly find where the leak is coming from. In many cases you may have to pull the fridge away from the wall. If your unit has wheels, pull it out. If it does not have wheels, get another able bodied helper to assist you in moving it. Check the seal around the door. If there are crumbs or other obstructions between your fridge frame and the rubber gasket that keeps the seal tight, this causes frozen items to melt and encourages condensation.
