Therefore, it is important for laptop owners to know how to fix a key in case one comes loose and falls off. Pick up the key and any other parts that fell loose. Make sure you don’t lose anything. Detach the key retainer from the key. The retainer is usually a coupe little plastic pieces that can move, and that snap into the key. If the retainer is still attached to the keyboard in its metal bindings, keep it there. Remove another key to observe how the retainer fits into the bindings. Usually it involves slipping one part under a metal hook or groove, then snapping the opposite site in place. You don’t always have to remove another key if you can’ figure out how to do it yourself. Once the retainer is in place, snap the key back on by pressing it into the retainer.
