How Do You Fix A Delta Leaky Shower Handle?

0

A leak in a Delta shower handle is caused by a worn valve cartridge with bad O rings. The valve cartridge is easy to remove and just as easy to replace. When the valve cartridge is bad it causes the faucet to leak, the handle becomes stubborn and the water temperature becomes erratic. To fix the leak in a Delta shower handle the faucet must be taken apart. Disassembling a single handle shower faucet can be intimidating, but this repair is easy to make with a screwdriver, wrench and replacement parts. Before starting any plumbing project shut the water off at the main valve. Turn on the leaky faucet to discharge the water pressure in the lines. Cover the shower floor with towels to protect it from damage and to keep from losing small parts down the drain. Remove the handle first. Acrylic and older metal handles have decorative buttons on top that cover the handle screw. Gently pry the button off with a small screwdriver. Metal buttons may be threaded. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen
