Microsoft Windows XP Professional is an operating system that creates profiles for each user who uses the machine. When you create a profile, there are files that save to the hard drive. The files are used to load settings each time the user logs into the computer. If these files become corrupted, the settings may not load properly and unforeseen issues may occur with the machine. You can fix XP Professional profiles by logging in with the administrator account, creating a new profile and copying your profile files to the appropriate directory. This essentially fixes the corrupted profile. Step 1 Log in with an administrator account. Don’t log in with the same user account that is corrupted, or you won’t be able to move the files. Step 2 Click the Windows “Start” button and select “Control Panel.” Double-click the “User Accounts” icon. Click the “Create a New Account.” Follow the prompts to create a new user profile.
