How Do You Fix A Basement Leak Around A PVC Wall Drainpipe?
If you need to repair a water leak around a basement PVC wall drainpipe, it is not as hard as it may initially appear. Sometimes the leak occurs due to rainwater or grey water run-off that is backing up around the pipe and running into a crack in the cement work. Here is how we fix a simple leak around a basement PVC wall drainpipe. The first thing to do is to clean the floor under the drainpipe and lay down a canvas or tarp drop cloth on floor under the drain pipe you are going to work on. Use a small 2lb or 3 lb sledgehammer and some cold chisels to chip away the mortar that was used to patch the drainpipe opening in the concrete wall. If you have had a leak for a long time in this area, the concrete may just fall apart in large chunks, as was the case in my rental property. Keep the large chunks on the tarp as we will use some of these again later. If you have any small wooden supports inside the opening around the pipe, go ahead and remove these.
