Crabbing is a family sport that involves a trip to the beach, fun in the sun for the family and with some luck, a great crab dinner that evening. The amount of gear for crabbing is minimal and all you need outside of your equipment is either a dock or a boat to drop your crab pot off. The only disappointment is that you can’t keep the whole catch. Find a crab pot. There are a few types to use. One is a rectangular cage that has an opening at each end that the crabs can come in to get at the bait but can’t get back out. This type yields the greatest catch, but due to the size, you end up having to throw most back. There are wire pots shaped like a pyramid, where the sides fold down and reveal the bait.
