Put on your painter’s mask or respirator before you open the polyurethane. Even with water-based urethrae, fumes are a concern. Attach a lamb’s wool roller cover to a long handled paint roller. Pour polyurethane into a clean, dry paint tray. Dip your paint roller into the polyurethane, and make a long stroke along one edge of the floor. Continue with similar strokes, moving slightly away from the edge each time. Move quickly to avoid marks left by applying wet polyurethane over a dried edge line.
