How Do You Find The Flood Zones Of Revere, Massachusetts?
Like other communities along the Atlantic coast, the city of Revere in Massachusetts is hit each year with a combination of wind, weather and waves that cause flooding for homeowners and business. Revere has received updated flood hazard maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that define areas of the city prone to seasonal flooding. These maps, often called Flood Insurance Rate Maps or FIRM maps, expand prior flood hazard zones. Anyone who owns property in flood hazard zones and has a mortgage on that property from a federally-backed lending institution is required to purchase flood insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program. The government offers flood insurance through private insurance companies. To find the new flood hazard zones, property owners can check the new FEMA maps. Go to the city of Revere’s website and click on “Departments” at the top of the page. Click on “Conservation Commission” and scroll down to a menu in a box that includes the word “Maps.” Cli
