How Do You Find Supreme Court Cases?
The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest court in the country and is composed of a chief justice and eight associate justices. The court hears a limited number of cases each year and issues opinions on those cases, most of which deal with questions of constitutional or federal law. Opinions are logged in a database on the U.S. Supreme Court website and also by Cornell University Law School and can be accessed by the pubic. Visit the Supreme Court of the United States website. Recent decisions are listed on the right side of the page. To access a recent case file, click on the case name. Use the search tool in the top right corner to search for a specific case, using keywords. Be aware that the tool is somewhat clunky and brings back many results with names that can be hard to understand. Try to make your search as specific as possible.
