If you receive child support payments, you’ll want to keep abreast of the latest revisions to your state’s child support guidelines. Child support law has its own little haven in state statute, but if you know how to find it, you can keep yourself updated to any pertinent changes that may affect you and your child. First, locate your state’s child support laws by accessing your state’s legislative website. You’ll see a link that takes you to your state’s statutes in their entirety. Don’t be intimidated–this is much easier than it looks. To find existing child support laws, scour the “titles” or “chapters” (as applicable). Look for key words such as “Family Law” or “Domestic Relations”–this is where child support laws will be found. Click! Now search again.
