Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is administered through the Federal Government and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Health and Human Services in conjunction with the different States. The present program was funded by the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 signed into law on February 4, 2009 by President Obama. Each State determines the design of its program, eligibility groups, benefit packages, payment levels for coverage, and administrative and operating procedures.
