How do you find a stormwater BMP, such as a BaySaver, on a set of plans?
This may seem like an easy thing to do until you have tried to locate a single structure, such as the BaySaver System. To complicate the matter, all engineers have their own personal way of drawing up plans and there is no uniformity in symbols for most proprietary structures. The BaySaver System may appear as a square, or a set of circles, or a triangle. But, I have put together a couple of methods to ease this process. Keep in mind, this is only a guide, there is no substitute for experience. The best method, although it may not be the fastest method, to find stormwater structures is to review the Site Plan. The Site Plan is the master plan and shows everything that has to be built or removed from a site. On this plan sheet, look for stormwater outfalls, such as a pond or wetland or headwalls, or look for a mainline into which all the stormwater lines (pipes) tie into. Another method is to trace the stormwater lines from the catch basin inlets or curb inlet to their drain point. Eith
