Nextel mobile phones are popular because of their push-to-talk, Direct Connect abilities. This feature allows you to instantly communicate with other Nextel phone users with the push of a button. It is especially useful for one-lined messages. Before you can use the Direct Connect services, you need to locate the Direct Connect number. This simple process allows you to put together your Direct Connect number using your area ID, network ID and member ID. Press the “Menu” button on your Nextel phone and select “My Info.” Scroll down to “Direct Connect” or “DC.” You will see three sets of numbers separated by asterisks. The first set of numbers is the area ID, the second set is the network ID and the third set is the member ID. Combine the numbers from the area, network and member IDs to form your Nextel Direct Connect number.
