How Do You Find A Job With A Less Than Honorable Discharge?
It is possible to get a good job even if you left the military with a less-than-honorable discharge. Many employers are willing to forgive past missteps, and many will not even ask about your discharge. Some jobs, like police, fire or security work, will be off limits, but there is plenty of room out there for veterans, no matter how they were discharged. Document all of the good things that you did while in the military. This would include leadership, skills acquired and experience with anything related to the job that you want. Describe those things and how they will make you better at the job for which you are applying. They will also give a more balanced picture of the time you spent in service. Tell the new potential employer about the discharge if they ask. If they do not ask, you are safe in assuming it does not matter to them. Honesty is the best policy. You do not want to lie on the application because that can be grounds for dismissal, even years later. Contact the VA and see
