Like other M.D.s they receive the traditional four-year medical training, but then receive additional education focusing on the musculo-skeletal system and how to perform what is known as osteopathic manipulation treatment (OMT). OMT is an age-old treatment using gentle manipulation of the patient’s body, which in many cases can allow for healing to take place within the body without the use of drugs and surgery.
