Damien: I feel deeply honored. There are some great short films out there and I am delighted that “Scarred” has been recognized as one of the best for 2006. When I look at some of the winners of the PlanetOut awards from previous years and, especially at what they have gone on to achieve, I realize I am in very good company. Do you think the award will help your career as a filmmaker? Damien: I think the award will be a great help to me . . . in fact, I look forward to splashing it all over the DVD sleeve! Getting on in the film business is all about getting yourself noticed, and there is nothing better than a high-profile award such as this to get people noticing you. Apart from anything, gay people love going to the movies and many of us also work in the industry, so it is good to have a high profile in the queer arena too. What are your goals as a filmmaker?
