How do you feel about book banning or book burning?
*Laughing* I love your commentary on this xoxo. The challenging and banning books is not something I agree with. Parents are literally trying to police what other people’s kids read. Yeah okay, some stuff really do not belong in school libraries or elementary schools. However, it’s not like media specialists and teachers choose books willy-nilly. There is already a level of selectivity placed on books through the biases and professionalism of media specialists. From there it is up to the parent to decide if their own children should be reading the material. It’s their jobs as parents. Some of my favorite (being sarcastic here) reasons for challenges *anti-family (it seems like if the main character doesn’t have 2 parents this one comes up) *occult (anything fantasy) *unsuited to age group (catch all) *homosexuality (just one character even suggested to have this sexual preference can offend some parents) *disrespect of authority (not quite a catch all but close) Most challenges come fr
