How do you feel about African Americans attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities(HBCUs)?

I really don’t care what type of institution- be it predominately black, white, hispanic , chinese, etc. as long as the person is trying to better themselves and earn an adequate education to further their careers, etc. I am not certain that attending a “black” university is where you’d have to go to be nurtured academically. I’ve found that school is what you make of it and what you put in, is what you get out. Having said that, perhaps making the effort to go to any school is more important. It would be more beneficial if you made a reference that you attended a historically black college because you wanted to be more in touch with your black heritage, culture and associate with predominately more blacks on a school campus environment.

Someways I think it’s good and someways I think it’s bad. The good part about it is most people who attend black universities do not get discriminated against as much in regards to education. They are allowed to learn without being labeled and do far better in that environment academically. But the bad thing is they are waiting even later in life to intermingle into a mixed society and sometimes lack the skills and knowledge to being compromising to other different then themselves, because they are less likely to have dealt with racist views and discrimination. So they often have a black Superiority complex even to other blacks who have chosen integrated education. No one should feel superior to anyone else.
