So the most important guideline when you are feeding your Venus fly trap is to only give it food that it can find in the wild. Things like insects, spiders, crickets and ants are perfect for the Venus fly trap. You want to stay away from foods like hamburger or hot dog or ham. These types of food, that we may think are good for the fly trap, can kill the plant in a matter of days or weeks. You can also use insects that are newly killed.
