How Do You Feed A Ball Into A Jugs Pitching Machine?
The Jugs machine is a baseball practice device that allows a hitter to work on his swing while his coach critiques and advises him on the swing. The Jugs machine allows the coach and player to work at their own pace with the chance to correct mistakes after every pitch. It also gives the player the option of hitting 20 to 50 pitches at a time without interruption. Set up the pitching machine about 60 feet, 6 inches from home plate, the same distance a pitcher throws from in a game. The coach stands next to the machine and will feed balls into the device while the player stands at home plate and hits. Hold the ball up as a signal to the hitter that you are about to feed the ball into the pitching machine. Once the ball is placed in the machine, it will be propelled by two spinning wheels toward home plate. It take about three seconds for the ball to be sent toward home once the ball is placed in the machine. Review with the batter what he did right and what he did wrong after each swing
