How Do You Faux Finish Washed Stripes?
Faux finishes are gaining in popularity and can add depth and interest to any room. While some faux finish techniques are difficult and take training and practice, a faux stripe is relatively easy. The washed look will mimic expensive wallpaper at a fraction of the price. For faux finish applications, the walls need to be in good repair and as smooth as possible before priming. Refer to my articles on wall repair (plaster and wallboard) for detailed instructions. Once walls are repaired and ready for the faux finish, apply a coat of primer to all surfaces. As a tip, spot prime any repaired areas first and then prime the whole room. Use the brush to “cut-in” the perimeter and the roller to complete the walls. Work toward the wet edge when rolling to ensure even coverage. Allow the primer to dry thoroughly.
