To extract the Microsoft Vista setup and installation files from the HP Recovery Partition on an HP laptop, use the HP Recovery Manager that ships with all HP notebooks. The HP Recovery Manager walks the user through Recovery Disc creation. The Recovery Discs include all Microsoft Windows Vista setup and installation files, driver files for the laptop and additional programs provided by HP. Creating a set of Recovery Discs using the HP Recovery Manager requires two DVD-R discs, or eight CD-ROMS. The utility writes a Recovery Disc that is set to either of those disc types.
