The locust bean, the seed produced by the carob tree, produces a culinary flavor with its oil that resembles that of chocolate. The pods containing the locust bean seeds resemble that of a soybean pod that starts out a bright green, and turns dry and deep brown as it matures on the tree. Extracting the oils from the mature locust bean seeds to obtain the flavorful oils doesn’t take very much time and can be done at home easily in your kitchen.
