How Do You Extend A Circular Dining Table?
Adding a temporary top to your round table will allow you to comfortably seat more guests. With a temporary tabletop, you can safely increase the size of your table by up to 25 percent. This will allow you to turn a 4-foot-diameter table into a 5-foot-diameter table, to increase your seating capacity from eight to 10. Measure the diameter of your current table. Your temporary tabletop can have a diameter of 1.25 times this measurement or less. Draw your new table onto the plywood with a string compass. Tie a pen to one end of a piece of string and tack the other end to the center of the plywood with the pen half the diameter of the new circle away from the tack. Draw the circle, keeping the string tight at all times. Cut out the circle with a jigsaw. Rout the outside of the circle to create a smooth, rounded edge.
