How Do You Explain Visually The 7 Stages Of Grief?
As a former therapist with children and families I had to find a way to explain grief and loss to the children. I designed a visual program, using different colors to symbolize the different steps. Introduction of the 7 stages of grief is necessary before beginning the program. The 7 stages are as follows. 1. shock or disbelief. 2. Denial. 3. Anger. 4. Bargaining. 5. Guilt. 6. Depression. 7. Acceptance and Hope. This program can be done with children from Kindergarten to adult just by varying the techniques. The following colors need to be introduced and matched to the 7 stages of grief. Stage 1: Shock and Disbelief is the color orange. Stage 2: Denial is the color yellow. Stage 3: Anger is the color red. Stage 4: Bargaining is the color purple. Stage 5: Guilt is the color dark blue. Stage 6: Depression is the color black. Stage 7: Acceptance and Hope is the color bright green.
