How Do You Evaluate A French Bulldog Breeder?
When searching for a reputable breeder, first take the time to educate yourself on French bulldogs, so you have some idea of the breed standard. Be very picky when it comes to the breeder you choose; good breeders not only breed beautiful dogs, but they strive to breed healthy dogs as well. If you are interested in purchasing a purebred French bulldog, you should expect to pay a lot of money and be prepared to adhere to any and every rule the breeder has regarding ownership of her dogs. Be wary of breeders who advertise in the classifieds section of the local newspaper. A reputable breeder is not looking for just anyone to buy her puppies and isn’t likely to advertise them merely as items to be purchased. These ads often give themselves away with such vague descriptions as “champion lines,” which tells you nothing about where in the pedigree the champion is; instead, look for “champion sired,” or “champion parents.” Be wary of an ad that touts AKC certification as a selling point.
