How Do You Enter A Broadway Audition Room?
“ATHENA REICH: In this clip, I’m going to talk about how to enter the audition room. I’ll show you. You walk in, confident, you might say, “Hi,” to the audition people. You definitely go up to the accompanist first, speak to the accompanist, tell the accompanist what you need and come over and show them that you’re ready. They may ask you what you’re singing and you can say, “I’m singing ‘I Will Survive’,” or they may not and in that case you don’t need to tell them. But the important thing is to come in with confidence, don’t overdo it, they can see through that, but come in, be yourself; be confident, make eye contact, be pleasant. And you know what, a little trick I like to think of before I go and I think, I kinda jump up and down, and I think, “Ah. I’m having the best day! I’m having the best day! I’m having the best day of my life!” and then I come in with lots of energy. I just come in, “Hi!” Have fun.
