This beautiful manmade lake in the Sierra Nevada foothills is a popular destination for locals living in a 100-mile radius. Located northeast of Bakersfield, California, there are ample amenities for the weekender who wishes to get away. Fishing equipment is available for rent if one is not personally outfitted. There are places to launch a boat, kayak and camp. Plan to visit the Lake Isabella area in the summer. It is the warmest time of the year. The winter sees harsh conditions and the water can be choppy. Visit during a weekday, thus eliminating most of the weekend crowd.
