Add a visit to Chinatown, specifically the Great Eastern restaurant which begins serving Dim Sum at 10:00 a.m. and is packed by 11a.m.  You order off menus with pictures as well as a full service menu with limited wine and beer service available.  Excellent, very fresh food prepared as it should be, many locals eat there daily.  Also take a hike down to the Fisherman’s wharf and stroll about with a warm bowl of chowder, steamed clams and cioppinio.  Hobble up to the Ghiardelli Square for a very rich ice cream sundae that will make your stomach ache, but ohhh, so delicious to share with two to four people.  Browse their chocolate store for authentic treats to take home.  Walk it off in the touristy stores in front of Fisherman’s wharf. This is the least expensive tourist area to purchase batteries, tee shirts, sweatshirts, postcards and other souvenirs.  Take a 60-90  minute boat tour of the bay (buy tickets at Pier 39); go under the Golden State bridge and around Alcatraz.  End up back at Pier 39 for a delicious blood orange cosmopolitan or great ale at Pier Restaurant.  Lots to do and enjoy!  Dress in layers for comfort.

San Francisco is bustling during the summer months, with its wealth of inviting outdoor spaces and vibrant attractions. Whether strolling through Golden Gate Park or taking in a baseball game at one of the nation’s coolest ballparks, visitors will see the city at its best. During fair weather, a fantastic place for strolling is along the Marina Green on the city’s north shore. Picnicking, schooner jaunts and people watching are just part of the fun, and the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the rest of the bay are spectacular. Have an alfresco lunch at one of the seafood restaurants in Fisherman’s Wharf or at an Italian restaurant in North Beach. Another spot for great outdoor dining is the revamped Ferry Building at the beginning of Market Street, with several restaurants and a number of cool shops too. There’s no nicer way to spend an afternoon in the city than at Golden Gate Park, with the Japanese Tea Garden especially inviting during warm weather. Other choices in GG Park includ
