How do you enable young people to link their learning from action to other parts of their lives?

I think often it is about building up their confidence and getting them to think and verbalise how that learning has given them new skills and knowledge that could be applied to different situations e.g work or personal life. For example, thinking about my experience-some teenagers attend a construction bus at school as part of an alternative programme. This builds up skills in carpentry etc.Yet when they leave school they don’t always gain qualifications and have little confidence. However, sometimes they want to work in building.Their learning on this bus could help them get this type of job.
