Allow eggs to warm to room temperature. You want to make sure to choose eggs that are smooth, no faint cracks or bumps. This will make your projects easier. Hold the egg in one hand. Take your small paring knife and gently tap into one end of the egg until a small hole appears. Once the initial hole is made, you can carefully chip around the edge and make the hole larger. Please be careful, you don’t want the openings to be any larger than the size of a pea. Once you have the first opening made, rotate the egg and do the same to the other end. This second opening can be smaller than the first. Still holding your egg, take a toothpick and insert it into one of the openings, making sure to break the thin membrane if you haven’t already cleared it from the hole with your knife.
