How Do You Elevate A Bed Frame And Protect Wood Flooring?

0

I recently replaced bedroom carpeting with wood flooring. I wanted to protect the flooring from the bed frame casters. I finally ended up removing the casters and used wooden blocks to capture the caster post while also distributing the weight. I also used felt pads to prevent the blocks from scratching the floor. Cut four 5″ lengths of 6″ x 6″ lumber. (Some beds will use 6 bed frame legs) Find the center point at one end of the 5″ long blocks. Use a 2″ diameter boring drill bit that will leave a flat bottom to the drilled hole. Drill a vertical hole 2″ deep into one end of each block. Using sandpaper, round off any sharp corners. Stain the blocks to match the floor color. If used on wood flooring, attach a felt pad to the bottom of each block. Elevate each bed frame leg and insert it into the 2″ diameter hole bored into each block.
