Can the incidence of workplace aggression be reduced? In other words, can this process be managed effectively? Several tactics are particularly useful. Employee screening First, efforts can be made to screen prospective employees. Those with a history of aggressive behavior or who evidence high levels of traits associated with aggression may be more prone than others to become involved in workplace aggression. Techniques for accurately identifying such persons primarily involve paper and pencil tests of personality. These are far from perfect, however, and have had only mixed success in identifying potentially aggressive individuals. In fact, only the most extreme cases (those individuals most highly predisposed toward violence) tend to be identified by such tests.
