How Do You Edit The Registry On Windows XP?
The Registry is a core component of all modern versions of the Windows operating system. It is a database that stores tens of thousands of configuration settings related to system components, drivers, services, the user interface, third-party applications and much more. The Windows Registry Editor utility, included by default with Windows XP, makes viewing and editing Registry values a quick task. Once you know where to find the utility, editing the Registry takes just a few clicks. Click the Windows “Start” button and select “Run.” Type “regedit” (without quotation marks) and click “OK” to open the Windows Registry Editor. Expand Registry folders–also known as keys–by single-clicking the “+” icon next to the folder name in the panel on the left-hand side of the window. Once you’ve accessed your desired key, single-click its name to view its values. These values are displayed in the panel on the right-hand side of the window. Right-click the value you want to edit and select “Modify.
