I got the same camera today, and have the same problem with NEF and Photoshop CS3, it looks like the newest Camera Raw 5.6 plugin, that covers Nikon D5000 from Adobe, dosen’t support Photoshop CS3. I tried and it, and it would not install. I would love to know what to do, without having to get a new Photoshop. Update I surfed around and found a DNG converter from Adobe, it works, but you have to convert to DNG before opening in Photoshop, I don’t think they loose any information, I’m posting the link below (link 2). If you download it remember to set compatibility in preferences to Camera Raw 4.6, so it supports Photoshop CS3.
