What equipment and skill level do you have? Of course if it were very high, you would not be asking… On the lathe, I have some experence, probably a mid- level range… I like to think I could copy a spindle… I would make a plywood template / model of the shape making sure it fits as tight as possible along the length… Then using only a cured dry to less than 4% mosture block, start taking my sweet time shaping the part to match my template… I would also probably purchase a spare piece of lumber, in case of cracks or miss cuts. It happens. I would also leave plenty of lumber in the end blocks, this can be cut away easier than putting it on… Don’t try to be perfect, I would keep telling myself. That is where I usually screw the project up, that one last little touch… Also keep in mind that a sharp blade / point / chisel will do all the work for you… If it ain’t going then something must be wrong, another motto I keep close to the vest… And always let the customer / clien
